Even though people all over the world are living longer and healthier lives, our health can change over time because of the different conditions and concerns we may face. Geriatrics healthcare professionals, like geriatricians and many others who have advanced training in the care of older adults, play an essential role in diagnosing and managing these conditions and health needs based on what matters to each person.
Founded in 1942, the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) is a nationwide, not-for-profit society of geriatrics healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the health, independence, and quality of life of older people. The Health in Aging Foundation is a non-profit established by the AGS in 1999 to bring that knowledge and expertise to us all as we age.
Our Mission
To improve the health, independence, and quality of life of all older people.
Our Vision
All older adults and caregivers will be empowered to actively participate in health care and decision-making.
